Karico Tarrapaino marks its 50th anniversary year
At the 1976 Technical Fair, sole proprietor Bruno Tava showcased the Astor foil printing machine he represented. To assist him, Bruno had recruited his prospective son-in-law, Kari Grönholm, who spent the entire fair diligently printing sample labels and delivering sales pitches. However, Kari kept hearing the same response: “We don’t want to buy a machine like that ourselves, but who could produce those labels for us?”
The fair came and went, and the printing machine remained unsold. Yet the demand for labels was unmistakable, and the experience clearly made an impact. Kari decided to buy the machine himself. Karico K. Grönholm Limited Partnership began operations in a modest 24-square-metre facility in the Käpylä district of Helsinki.
In the early years, the company’s customer base consisted primarily of businesses in the electrical engineering industry. Today, Karico Oy is a highly respected printing company whose expertise is recognized across a wide range of industries. We now utilize various printing methods for labels and stickers, with digital printing taking a leading role thanks to the many advantages it offers.
Kari has since retired, but his legacy lives on and continues to thrive. Today, we at Karico continue to embrace technical challenges with enthusiasm, while recognizing that exceptional customer service has always been a cornerstone of our success. We continue to receive excellent feedback for our reliability and dependable delivery performance.
Not long ago, we received a call from a company seeking labels. One of our competitors had told them:
“We can’t do it, but ask Karico. If they can’t help you, then nobody in Finland can.”
That caller became a loyal customer.
What kind of label challenge can we help you solve?
P.S. Bruno later became the father-in-law of his machine customer when Kari and Kirsi married in 1977. That success story is still going strong as well!
